Platespin Migrate Automation (API / CLI)

I'm new to the product, however I'm looking into possible ways to
automate it to some degree. I've done a few google searches and looking
in the documentation section of the site, but can't seem to find if
there is a scripting interface. Either CLI or API (REST/SOAP)? Can
anyone advise, and if there is link me to the relevant documentation.

Re: Platespin Migrate Automation (API / CLI)

Hi Matt

If you are performing migrations onto a VMware platform then the PlateSpin Migrate web interface offers a streamlined approach that negates much of the need for automation. Certain activities, however, are good candidates automation such as bulk discovery and Migrate has both a CLI and an API, details of which may be found at and respectively. For info, the API is common to both PlateSpin Migrate and Protect so the documentation is the same too.

If your interest in automation is related to a large migration project comprising hundreds or thousands of servers then I recommend that you also look at PlateSpin Transformation Manager, a project planning tool specifically designed to help with planning large scale data centre transformation projects. It can reduce the time and effort to plan and execute large migration projects, whether you're using Migrate or not, and integrates with Migrate to execute migrations in a largely automated fashion.
