Re: Protect supports SUSE 11 SP3 ?

Hi Sharfuddin,

I have moved this thread from the Migrate Forum to the Protect Forum
since you are asking about PlateSpin Protect here.

The current release of PlateSpin Protect 10.3 does not have support for
SLES 11 SP2 off the bat. A patch called HotFix2 (HF2) is required in
order to gain support for SLES 11 SP2.
* Note: The HF2 installation is not tested with HF1. If you need a
combination please contact support first.

SLES 11 SP3 is not yet supported by Protect at all but may be in a
future release.

Regards,

Re: Protect supports SUSE 11 SP3 ?

in our labs, we have protected SP 3 successfully.
We installed Protect 10.3, HF1 then HF2, and then successfully protected
SP 3 via custom kernel.

Re: Protect supports SUSE 11 SP3 ?

Hi Shafruddin,

Just because it worked, does not mean that we support it. There are
actually a number of configurations which have not gone through all the
testing and approval process and may work but are not listed as
Supported.

Regards,

_ Itamar

ETA for SLES 11 SP3 support ?

for a long time SP 2 was not supported, and when Protect started support
for SP2, SUSE has released SP 3, i.e SUSE will support SP 2 till next
six month.

Re: Protect supports SUSE 11 SP3 ?

Hi Sharfuddin,

We have no ETA for SLES 11 SP3 support. The next full release of
Protect is scheduled to contain full support of SLES 11 SP2 and OES 11
SP1 which is currently only available in a Hot Fix format.

We will only find out when support of SLES 11 SP3 starts when the
release notes for a HotFix or full release mention it.

Regards,

_ Itamar

Note PlateSpin Protect 10.4 is now available for download @
https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=Y1NoDzP8i-I~

One of the new features listed in the Release Notes[1] is

"SLES 11 SP3 workloads are technically enabled (in preview of future
product releases) but have not been formally tested."
