ALM Version Check

Hi Team,

We were using ALM 12.20 for the last few years and migrated to ALM 12.60 previous month. We came to know that there is ALM 14, which is a SaaS. Also, since ALM 15 was released on August 2019, Could you please suggest the best and most stable version of ALM for us. We use around 150 licenses.

We are planning to migrate from 12.60 version, since we don't have web client feature in ALM 12.60. If ALM 15 is stable, do we have web client feature, which doesn't consume license as in ALM 12.20.

Re: ALM Version Check

Web Client feature was discontinued, and is not in ALM 15.

Depending on what you needed the web client functionality for, you could have a look at ALM Octane.  Although ALM Octane is a very different platform aimed at a different audience, the requirements management features you had in Web Client are same/enhanced in ALM Octane.

Conceivably you could convert some of your QC/ALM licenses to ALM Octane (Micro Focus allows you to do that for some license types) and then sync Octane to ALM if you absolutely needed this functionality and also maintain synchronization of assets to the test plan in ALM.

If however the purpose in using Web Client was because of user permissions on the client machine, there is the new ALM Client Launcher tool which may help. It is designed to allow you to run an ALM client on the Windows box without needing to download it from the server. You'll find it on the Micro Focus App Delivery marketplace.

Re: ALM Version Check

@machinedata  Thanks for your suggestions. We were using web client mainly because of 2 reasons:

1. It does not consume ALM license

2. It has defect module, and is light weight.

We tried client launcher and alm explorer, but both of them is similar to desktop client UI and it consumes license. Is there any chance that ALM will bring back web client? Another question, Is ALM 15 the latest one? Is it a stable version? Any functionality/feature missing from ALM 12.20 other than ALM web client.?
