Customization workflow for Status field question

Hello Guys,

can someone help me about to track this case:

Background Information: is it possible to do a workflow code under script editor->Defect module for this...

 Add Non-Continuing Business to the status field drop down

Only two user groups can utilize non-continuing business

  1. Model Managers
  2. Validation Team

There is another field called Validation Observation with two choices

  1. Change
  2. Finding

User Story 1:

If user is a model manager and Validation observation is set to change; then Model Manager can select “non-continuing business” from the drop down.

Things to Note:

The Model Manager and the status field have very specific transition rules. There are currently 17 in place. We cannot break the current transition rules for status.

User Story 2:

If user is “Validation team” and Validation observation is set to Finding; then the “Validation team” can select  “non-continuing business” from the drop down.

Things to Note:

The Validation Team and the status field have very specific transition rules. There are currently 17 in place. We cannot break the current transition rules for status.

Re: Customization workflow for Status field question

Hi,

You can add the conditions you specified under Bug_FieldCanChange event, e.g.

If User is Model Manager AND Validation Observation = change then

  Bug_FieldCanChange = true

 else

 Bug_FieldCanChange = false

msgbox "You are not allowed to change status ..."

End If

Note that Bug_FieldCanChange event is executed prior the Transition Rules defined in ALM, thus if there is a transition rule preventing forementioned field change it will take place and user will see the standard Transition rule error message. You can workaround this if you delete all Transition rules and add the corresponding conditions in the Bug_FieldCanChange function.

HTH,

Deyan
