Hi ,

We want to import test cases from Excel to QC, while continuously get following error:

Row: 1, Column: A1 - Field 'Subject': Value is required.

Row: 1, Column: B1 - Field 'Test Name': Value is required.

Row: 1, Column: G1 - Field 'Test Technique': Value is required.

Row: 1, Column: H1 - Field 'Test Title': Value is required.

Scan Report - 4 errors.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Screen shot see attached.

Other information:

1, Excel version: 2007

2, QC version: 11.00.3

3, Has installed HP-ALM-MSExcelAddin.exe for QC 11.0

I have tried many times and also searched some solution, while none of them succeeds. Could you help me?

Re: Failed to import test cases from Excel to QC 11.00.3

Before launching HP ALM Excel add-in select all the cells which contain data including headers. And try to upload.

Let me know if it works.

1. Try to check the data inside of cells. If there are write exact text "Subject..." (I mean to check if there are not some not allowed chars) and so on.

2. Try first export one test to excel so you will see the data.

3. Try to create new blank excel, put one row with simple data and import, like:

Subject  Test Name

Subject  TestA

and so on.

4. Try to import test to a blank QC project without mandatory user fields like Test Title ...

Re: Failed to import test cases from Excel to QC 11.00.3

According your advice, re-do this action, still get the same error.   😞

Besides, I notice that “Type” in ALM Excel Add-in is not mandatory filed, while it must be set value into QC. Is this inconsistence the problem?

Re: Failed to import test cases from Excel to QC 11.00.3

Hm, maybe.

But I think I am now stuck.

I would also check if this is a problem only on your computer or not. If yes then maybe there is wrong installation of QC or Excel addin.

Re: Failed to import test cases from Excel to QC 11.00.3

1. Exclude 'Subject' in Subject Path
2. Do not select headers while exporting

But still you shouldn't be getting 'value is required'.
Attach the Excel sheet..

Re: Failed to import test cases from Excel to QC 11.00.3

By looking at 'Mapping.jpg' Fan1984 attached, the issue is with incorrect Column reference. Column A is referred as A1 and hence macro did not find it. Please use just the column Name (A, B, C....) and addin will identify the rows from your selection.

Thank you this simple step was not listed in any of tutorial sites that I came accross.
