How to add a new option to 'Type' of test when creating a new test in Test Plan

Hi,

Running ALM 12.21. In the Test Plan when creating a new test; is there a way to add another option to the  'Type' of the test. In the attached screenshot you can see that currently the test 'Type' dropdown lists the following as options to choose from:

ALT-SCENARIO, BUSINESS-PROCESS, FLOW, LEANFT-TEST, LR-SCENARIO, MANUAL, QAINSPECT-TEST, SYSTEM-TEST, VAPI-XP-TEST.

Would like to add the option of 'AUTOMATION' to this existing list. Is this possible?

Thank you.

Re: How to add a new option to 'Type' of test when creating a new test in Test Plan

Hi there,

Here is some information on Test Types.

https://admhelp.microfocus.com/alm/en/12.60/online_help/Content/UG/r_test_types.htm

As an example, we have ALM edition - Quality Center Enterprise and do a lot of automated testing using UFT, so have installed the UFT Add-in for ALM and now have a new Test type of QUICKTEST_TEST.

Automated tests can now be run locally or on remote hosts.

Hi Mark,

Is this automated add-in one you are referring to? It is described as UFT add-in for ALM but does not mention QUICKTEST_TEST

Thanks.

In order to add a new test type, you may refer to: https://admhelp.microfocus.com/alm/api_refs/CustomTestType/Default.htm

However, it's not a small effort and will involve some coding work. Is this really what you need? 🙂

Hi David,

No, the add-in that I referred to earlier is -

https://marketplace.microfocus.com/appdelivery/content/uft-add-in-for-alm

The UFT add-in for BPT that you mention is different. This is used in conjunction with a separately licensed ALM module called Business Components, which allows you to do Business Process Testing. This provides another test type, Business_Process, which we use for the test automation of SAP business processes.
