Rest API Not supported in ALM 12.60 - Can we use it?

Hello forum,
We are in the process of upgrading to ALM 12.60 and intending to use the REST API to post run results from our test automation tool. It appears however that even in 12.60 The Rest API is not ‘supported’ for entities other than Defects.
At least, In the 12.60 documentation for REST there is a reference for:
ALM REST API Reference
Provides an online reference for the ALM REST-based API. You can use the REST API to access and work with ALM defects.

And there is another reference for:

ALM REST API Reference (Technical Preview)
Provides an online reference for the ALM REST-based API resources that are in technical preview. This version has wider coverage of ALM functionality. You can use the REST API to access and work with ALM data.
And this latter one opens with:
ALM REST API Reference (Tech Preview) Overview
The REST API described in this help is a technical preview
This version of the REST API is not supported by Micro Focus. It is provided for evaluation purposes. We do not recommend using the API in production code.
•See the ALM REST API Reference for information about the supported, public API.
•We welcome all comments, suggestions, and feedback. Your feedback will be reviewed as we finalize the public API. Use the link at the bottom of each help topic, "Send documentation feedback."

So I take this to mean the REST API is approved and supported for defects ( and indeed our commercial/ third party defect synchronizer to Atlassian JIRA uses the Rest API.)
But that REST API  is not approved for other entities and data applications.

So my questions are: (Note: For context on these, I work in the Medical device regulated domain.)
1.   If the functionality or ‘product’ is not supported Should we use it in production? What steps do you take to validate it for use, particularly if used in regulated environments.
2.   Is anyone aware of any statement from Microfocus re: when this may be 'approved' ?

Many Thanks.
