Data extraction at API level to extract/manipulate XL/XML/JSON data

If you design a flow using an API call and you want to manipluate the data return or even data drive the paramters involved, the current methods within content packs to manipulate data work,  but at a low level.

Using CS content to get_cell and strip data out of XL is time consuming and low level.

We need data manipulation similar to that found in the UFT One tool within the Designer, so that we can point at an XL file and "ta dah" the columns are magically mapped to parameters at the flow level.

XML and JSON have data manipulation functions, but it would be great if these could be enhanced to a similar level

@Ray Ffrench please provide more details on how you would like to see such a functionality working. Also, the UFT feature mentioned above would be helpful.

It would be great of we had a data source tab at the bottom of the page with a small drop down arrow for XL, XML or JSON.

Then select the appropriate data source and it maps the columns to variable names.

We then could connect the flow variable to the data source variable names.

Using get_cell and lots of Python effort is where our competition (ie UIPath) are considerably simplier.  Look at data manipulation in both UFT and UFT Service Test... Its much nicer.

I think I am on point here, relative to Ray's request.

I think you can see what he is referring to, relative to UFT capability, here:

@FlorinM  isn't this the same idea with Filters in Workflow Designer?

@Lucian-Revnic , if you are referring to this idea Output filters in Workflow designer indeed there are similarities, but this idea is more oriented towards a wizard type feature that will enable an user to extract data from different data sources and formats, while the other one is specific to outputs manipulation, similar with the OO Studio.
