Import data to SSM/SBM from CSV or Excel?

We're looking to import a substantial amount of CI's into the CMDB for SSM 4.0, and it would be really great to not have to do it all thorough the GUI.

This won't be an ongoing thing; it's really a one-time load for the initial population. Is there an easy way to do this that I've missed?

Hello Matt

SBM Administration interface has Import data utility where you can define data source, destination table, map columns and do import. More over you can repeat the process if you have unique column to update exiting items. Also this utility can automatically fill in related via Relataional field auxiliary SBM tables.

Re: Import data to SSM/SBM from CSV or Excel?

Hi Matt - with 10.1 of SBM which underlies SSM 4.0 there is also the new import from excel facility in the new web application administrator. This is not as functionally rich as the system admin import but is designed for import from excel. The system admin import advises not to import from flat files but if you can push that data in a database e.g. access or sql server then the system admin import is the most versatile.

Thanks! I knew it had to be something simple. I was able to successfully do a POC last night via SBM admin and it worked like a charm.
