SBM, mainly Tomcat, and connection pooling (SBM 11.5, Oracle)

Jump to solution
Hi,

does anyone know if SBM, mainly Tomcat, is using connection pooling (SBM 11.5, Oracle)?

One of our customers moved their AE server to the cloud and kept their db server locally which increased the response time from about 0.5ms to 8ms.
This is causing SBM to be very slow, especcially at boot time and the customer is claiming that it is due to not using connection pooling.

If it really is the case, is there a way to enable it?

Thank you
Regards

JDBC has connection pooling enabled. There are about 8 - 9 connection pools that we use for various Tomcat components; each has about about 100 pooled connections.

There are questions that this post brings up such as you say they moved their AE server to the cloud, what about the Tomcat components were they also on the AE server? But, I mention this only for completeness of understanding the setup.

The likely culprit is the network connection between the AE and database server. Have they established a VPN between the AE and database server. This would allow them to control the reliability of the connection. I have not actually setup this connection myself, but the key to this setup is to control the reliability of the setup.

Hi,

Yes, we know about this ODBC setting, but this is used only by IIS part of the SBM. Tomcat uses it's own JDBC connection.

I don't know the answer to this question. If no one replies about the Tomcat side, please open a case with support, and they can engage the developers to get the answer.
