Notify/Alert User of Record Lock

Notify/Alert User of Record Lock

When a user opens a record for update and the record is being updated by another user, can we notify the user that the record is being updated?  This will be great for both user updates and REST Api updates.  This will prevent user data from being overwritten.

Some complementary additions/alternatives: Enhance the reload so the user is told what fields have change. Only reload the fields that changed.  The user could then determine if they wanted to copy anything they had entered that would get overwritten by the reload.

Not easy with the given architecture (angular/rest) but could also be done like:

  • Whenever one opens a request, get asked if you want to read exclusively

This could then be selected as an application setting (general).
