How to cut and paste text into notifications

Jump to solution

Hello everyone

We currently send Location into notifications, however it's a bit too long.
The full Location looks something like

region/country/city/building/room/rack.

I'd like to cut this and have the Building only.
I do not see a way to do this with the expression language.
I also tried entity.Location.ParentLocation.ParentLocation.Name . The notification validation mechanism does not accept this.
Any ideas would be welcomed/.

Cheers

Hello,

You have too many "jumps" from ENTITY_LINK to ENTITY_LINK. You will have to store an intermediate level as a custom field. Then you can reference this field in the notification.

Hello:

We have a similar problem in notifications with this variable

Setor: ${:entity.RequestedForPerson.OrganizationalGroup.Name}

The result is:

Setor: 22410: PersonGroup

How many levels or jumps can be included to reference a field?

Thank you and Best Regards

Marina

Marina,

For notifications, you have one less levels than in business rules. That's why the "Name" part is ignored and what you see printed is just the "pointer" to the Group.

Since your syntax will work at the business rule level, you can actually replace the expression in the notification body by a parameter, and pass it through the business rule.
