GWAVA 6.5 and SMG 7 on Ubuntu need to be upgrade before February 2021

Both GWAVA 6.5 and SMG 7 on Ubuntu will need to be upgraded to SMG 7 on SLES by February 2021 as the Anti spam feature will not longer work after that date.  To continue having SMG as your spam filter, please see this tid - https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7024707

It is recommended to move to the latest version of GWAVA/SMG, which is SMG on SLES. GWAVA 6.5 and SMG on Ubuntu are not only no longer being developed but the the engine that does Anti-spam, Anti-virus, and IP reputation scanning will no longer work after Feb 2021.

So development still has to do some work. I have some customers still using good, old Gwava 6.5 because of statistics.

As of Feb 2021, they can still continue to use it for stats however they will no longer be able to use it as a spam filter as that will no longer work 😞

When you upgrade, watch out for the change to the way the ip reputation section on the SMTP gateway works  on the SLES server.

You're right. I had to switch it off because foreign ips had a bad reputation in the beginning (even using a low security percentage). So all mails were blocked.

Maybe this has been fixed in the meantime ..

Hi Pam,

thanks for that statement. The development on SMG Ubuntu is sleeping, no updates of the product SMG on this appliance. (my last product version 824 is from Jan 2020) On SLES side are more fixes.

Lets start to migrate to SLES base.
