New User Registration: lastname Error: An error has occurred

We enabled New User Registration in SSPR with default settings.
When we try to do a registration it goes wrong on the input field
Lastname.

When putting some data in this field, we see "checking data" and then
the error message:
An error has occurred. If this error occurs repeatedly please contact
your helpdesk.

This input field (SN) has the default settings (text, required, not
unique)
Other fields as FirstName (text, required, not unique), emailaddress
(email, required,unique) goes fine.

In the debug log we don't not see this error.
Strange thing is that looks like that it goes wrong on a next-next-finsh
installation.
Unfortunately we are not able to create a support case on this SSPR
product.

Re: New User Registration: lastname Error: An error has occurred

Which SSPR version are you using? Is it safe to assume you're on a valid
version of Tomcat and the Sun/Oracle JDK? I presume you are pointing to
eDirectory on the backend, so have you watched the LDAP tracing with
ndstrace to see if anything shows up there (be sure to enable all of the
trace/screen options on the relevant LDAP Server object first or you will
not see much) in case it is erroring on the backend?

SSPR is a supported product; are you saying you are not entitled to use
it, or you have not purchased a it or another product providing it?

Thanks for the reply.
It seems that we have a supported version and we do have entitlement to
use it because of IDM.
The backend LDAP is MS A.D. and I see now the following errors in the

Re: New User Registration: lastname Error: An error has occurred

What things DO work via your MAD backend?

Authentication of regular (non-administrator) users?

Have you extended schema for MAD already, or are you using another backend
for challenge/response data entirely?

Which user are you using as your administrative and proxy users against
MAD and in what form is their user DN specified?

The Next/Next/Finish install should have included a test user being setup.
Does that user work, or did you skip over it?

You might try to enable the 'LDAP Referrals' setting in SSPR.

Re: New User Registration: lastname Error: An error has occurred

Password reset was working fine, so MAD backend was not the problem.
On another forum I found the solution.
The LDAP Contextless Login Roots was set to dc=xxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxx
I pointed that to a subOU like ou=xxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxx and now the
new user validation is working fine.
Thank for the support.
