Regular expressions in HelpDesk module

Hi there,

I'm trying to mask some data in HelpDesk module using regular
expressions, but it is not working.

Acessing:
Modules > HelpDesk > Helpdesk Detail Form and then:
Attribute > Options > Regular Expression

I'm trying mask some attributes:

Date of Birth -> using ....$ to show only the year.
Mother's Name -> using ^([A-Z][a-z]*) to show only the first name.
Another Number attribute -> using ^.... to show only the fisrt 4
numbers.

I tried some with Required option, others with confirm, but any case
worked.

My SSPR version is v3.2.0.3 b40 r38536.

I've tryed also with the version 3.3.0.2 in my lab, but it does not have
the Options button any more like the old version.

Any ideas to solve this?

Regards.
JP

Re: Regular expressions in HelpDesk module

Unfortunately this functionality does not exist in SSPR. The regex
setting is intended to control the syntax during data input, but has no
effect on the display of data.

These settings are part of the standard 'form' setting syntax and do not
apply to the helpdesk detail form, which is why the setting options
aren't shown in 3.3. Though they are visible in 3.2, they have no
effect.

I can't help but mention the obvious security concern of storing
personally identifyable data as unencrypted ldap attributes,
nevertheless, you could enter an enhancement request for this feature;
I can see where this could be useful in several cases.

Re: Regular expressions in HelpDesk module

Thank you so much for helping.
I opened a ticket in the Support Team, but they were telling I was
making a bad regex.
Probably the guys that answered even know that this functionality does
not exist in SSPR. Surprised!
