SSPR - User freindly error messages

Hello,

I have configured SSPR 3.2 (bundled with NetIQ IDM 4.5) running in RHEL
6.5

The end user is getting too many information in error messages.
Information such as the LDAP HostName, port and DN of the user is
included in the error message.

These are appearing on foreign languages also. The user friendly error
message is appearing in foreign language however the LDAP error codes
are appearing in English.

Is there a way to remove these LDAP error code and display only the user
friendly messages like "Account is expired" or "The username or password
is not valid" only.

Please find the a couple of scenarios and error messages from SSPR
below.

_Scenario_1_-_When_the_user_account_is_expired_

Account is expired. { 5066 ERROR_ACCOUNT_EXPIRED (unable to create
connection: unable to bind to ldaps://myldap.acme.com:636 as
cn=testuser1,ou=internal,ou=users,o=acme reason: [LDAP: error code 53 -
NDS error: log account expired (-220)]) }

_Scenario_2_-_During_bad_password/userid_attempt_

The username or password is not valid. Please try again. { 5001
ERROR_WRONGPASSWORD (unable to create connection: unable to bind to
ldaps://myldap.acme.com:636 as cn=testuser1,ou=internal,ou=users,o=acme
reason: [LDAP: error code 49 - NDS error: failed authentication (-669)])
}

Thanks,
sresun

Re: SSPR - User freindly error messages

One of the steps you should take before going to production is to disable
the detailed error messages; I think, when you are still in configuration
mode, that it even warns you about NOT having this mode off yet. One you
turn them off, all the user sees is what they should see, which is pretty
boring/standard.

Put SSPR back into configuration mode and then disable the detailed
messages/warnings/errors (I forget the option) and all should be well.
Put the system back in production mode before letting users at it again.

If I can find my SSPRConfiguration.xml file I'll report back with the
option in there for direct modification.

Actually, the detailed error message setting is disabled by default.
But detailed messages are always shown when the configuration is open.
Close the configuration.
