Let’s start this blog off with a little quiz. Where was German Chocolate Cake invented? Where was the term “Super Bowl” coined? Where was the frozen margarita machine invented? Where was our favorite (unless you’ve actually had to watch it) purple dinosaur Barney created? Where is the home of the first ever professional cheerleading squad?

German Chocolate.jpgIf you answered Dallas, Texas for all of those questions, you are either James Holzhauer, current Jeopardy quiz show darling, or you still have Google open in your browser. Either way, good job! You may be asking why on earth I am talking about Dallas, Texas in a security blog. To answer your very logical question, it was the host of last month’s Micro Focus Cyber Security Summit. The event featured content presented by real customers and other experts along with compelling breakout sessions, the latest product roadmaps, and demos of our newest solutions.

If you missed the event, missed a few sessions, or just enjoyed it all so much you want to experience it again, you are in luck. We have the full conference on-demand right now!

Since there were so many incredible presentations over the course of those three exciting days, this blog would be more of a novel if I recapped them all. I will however point out an excellent presentation titled “Securing Developers and Open-Source Components” by our partners Sonatype, leaders in integrated open source governance and Secure Code Warrior, creators of a gamified training platform to enable developers to code securely.

Abstract: Securing Developers and Open-Source Components:

“To meet the speed and functionality demands of the business, most application projects today benefit from the practicality of open-source components and third-party libraries. Combining custom code security with non-custom code security (open-source and third-party code) are essential components of securing applications. Join this joint session with our ecosystem partners to learn from a discussion on secure development training and open-source component security.”

See this highly informative presentation, along with all the other fantastic presentations, keynotes and breakout sessions at the Micro Focus Cyber Security Summit on-demand site. Or, if you are AppSec-focused, see just the application security sessions.

Now we can add the Micro Focus Cyber Security Summit to that list of amazing things that came out of Dallas Texas!
