Take User Tests and earn Amazon gift cards

The digital marketing team is always working to enhance the user experience on our websites, and we need people like you to help us with user tests from time to time.

We do a variety of tests, and all of them can be done remotely from your own computer.  Most people find them to be very interesting and enjoyable.  They usually take 10-15 minutes to complete, and they are extremely useful in helping us see how our target users respond to different UI variations.

How it works

When we are planning to conduct a test, we review the profiles of the people in our testing pool. We email the people who match the personas we need to study, describing the test and inviting them to participate.  If you reply and indicate you are interested in taking that test, we email you instructions and a link to the test.

You simply follow the instructions, click the button to submit your recorded test, and we are notified that you have completed a test. We review the test to ensure that it was completed, and if all is well we send you a $10 Amazon gift card to thank you for participating.

If you would like to be part of our testing pool, please fill out the following survey.

  1. This sounds like fun.  How many tests can I take?
There is no limit to the number of tests you can take. We may invite you to take several tests, depending on how often your profile matches the requirements of any given test.

  2. How does user testing help you make decisions?
We often study how people use different web layouts to find information.   For example, we might have a scenario that asks you to go to a website and find out when you can get training on a certain product in your local area.  We record what you do and say while you are looking for it, and study your strategy for finding that information.  When we have seen enough people of your same profile (same age group, job experience, IT role, etc.) complete that task, we can draw some conclusions about the best choices in menu labels, link placement, page layout, etc., for the people most likely to purchase training.

Really we aren’t testing YOU, we are testing the user interface to see how well it meets your needs.  You can never fail a test — if you can’t find something, it is the UI that has failed the test.

  1. What kinds of tests might I take?
We do online card-sort tests, first-click tests, tree tests, surveys, and remote user tests (both moderated and unmoderated).

  2. Do I have to take them at a certain time of day?
Only our moderated user tests need to be scheduled with a moderator for a specific day and time. Other tests can be done at your convenience – we’ll just send you a link and ask you to do it within a day or two.

  3. What if I decide I don’t want to be in the testing pool any more at some point?  Can I get removed if I want to?
Yes, absolutely.  Simply email us at and give us the name and email address you supplied in your profile survey, and we will delete you from the pool.
