Latest Java 7 45 update issue with Sentinel 7.1.0.1_904

Has anyone figured out what to disable on Java side to allow you to use
Control Center?
Tried disabling security but it does not seem to work. Tried backing up
to java 7 40 and I have the same issue. Java 7 25 works.

Thank you for your time.

Re: Latest Java 7 45 update issue with Sentinel 7.1.0.1_904

I'm using 7u40 on my box and it works with Sentinel 7.1, and I think even
7.0 SP3. That it no longer works for you after having 45 makes me think
perhaps 45 modified your user-specific files to do something interesting.
If you create a new user and try again does that help? Tried another box
that never had 45?

I'm downloading 45 now to give it a shot on my system.

Tried a new user and different machine. Same results. Error message
is: Application Blocked by Security Settings. The java security
settings have prevented this application from running. You nay change
this behavior in the Java Control Panel.

Re: Latest Java 7 45 update issue with Sentinel 7.1.0.1_904

What is odd is that while 45 did not work for me (could not find some web
server configuration parameter while the SCC was loading, about the time
it should have asked me for credentials) I was able to go back to 7u40 and
it all works properly. I'll think about this a bit more but it appears
that the work in preparation for 7u51 (or whatever version blocks old
stuff) may be needed to fix this properly.

I had trouble today too. Tried 1.6 archive but no luck. Then 1.7.25
enabled, no luck. Uninstall all Java from PC and install 1.7.25,
Success!

What sometimes helps is going to the java-console, select settings and
delete all files (except the installed ones).
Helped me in some occasions.

Anco

Re: Latest Java 7 45 update issue with Sentinel 7.1.0.1_904

I was suprised to hear that someone could run Control Center with Java 7
update 40. In my experience that doesn't work, you have to downgrade to
7up25.

I opened SR about this. Novell/NetIQ answered that "Please note that
this is a known bug with the JRE" and told to use 7up25. When I asked
for more information they send me a link to Sun database
"http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=8017174" and closed
case. That link doesn't seem to have anything to do with this case. I
couldn't find anything about this bug on Novell knowledgebase.

My client tried 7up45, and said that it doesn't work. I haven't tested
that myself.

Re: Latest Java 7 45 update issue with Sentinel 7.1.0.1_904

With Java 7 update 40, try this:

Open the Java Control Panel
Go to the Advanced Tab > Debugging > Enable Logging.

This has been successful for other users. Unfortunately, there's not a
known workaround at this point for update 45.

Thanks. The "Open the Java Control Panel Go to the Advanced Tab >
Debugging > Enable Logging. " worked with Java 7 update 40.
