unable to login to event source manager

It seems that I'm unable to login to event source manager. I suspect it
has something to do with my version of java may be too new or too secure
for it.
Any time I attempt to connect I get an error:

Error Occurred during login
Error initializing the communication layer:
ERROR:: Service name has to be provided through system property
esecurity.communication.service

has anyone else run into this?
any ideas on how to get around this too?

Re: unable to login to event source manager

I presume this is with Log Manager.

Which version of Log Manager, and which patches? Which version of Java do
you have on your workstation?

Have you tried with an older version of Java (1.7.0_2x or earlier for
example), if only to prove it's a Java security problem?

TID# 7012887 addresses similar problems with the Sentinel Control Center
so that may help.
