2018.08 + latest rollup mess RHEL OS identification

Jump to solution

We get a lot of server that are misidentified by the new "agent" for RHEL7 mostly and some RHEL6

They turn them into :

NameSerial NumberIP Address (Primary)Operating System VersionModelHostnameAgent Version
Agent Managed - UnreachableXXXXXXXXXXXXXXLinux 7SERVER-X86_64UCSC-C240-M4SX A0XXXXXXXXX75.0.85351.0

It was Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7 X86_64 before the agent upgrade and the migration.

Did you install 2018.08.008 v1 or v2 ?  Because v1 has a bug in the comm test.  logic and that will affect you.

even if we can't remote term to them (greyed out) we can run ad-hoc scripts against them.

Which version of the 2018.08.008 rollup you got installed? The latest one is SRVA_00310, since the 2018.08.008 rollup was published again because of an issue found in the original release.

Have you tried to downgrade the agent on any of the misidentified machines? Did the downgrade solve the problem?

from what I see there's nothing in V2 that affect us, I might be wrong, but the list does not talk about RHEL platform.
