Changes to Package post-install script result in flag for remediation?

I have a change I would like to make to a post-install script in a package (RPM), and don't quite know how this will effect the devices that currently have this package installed.

If I change the post-install script in the package, will this cause any device with this package installed to enter a non-compliant state?

If that is the case, what would happen to remediate the device?
