(SA) Support Tip: New Migrate tool part of SA Rollup patches

Introducing the new "Migrate" tool that is now included with SA Rollup patches.

This tool allows for the migration/transfer of data that the CBT tool cannot handle due
to relationships with a server.  Data handled by CBT cannot deal with information
based on managed servers/device ids because a SA managed server cannot reside in two
different SA environments.  Due to this restriction, CBT cannot transfer data based on managed servers
because the device IDs for these servers will not exist in both environments.  Migrate
can be used in conjunction with CBT to first transfer content from one SA environment to another,
and then use Migrate to transfer over the device-based information from one SA environment to
another.

The type of content Migrate can be used with includes..

  • Audits
  • Audit Exceptions
  • Device Groups
  • Snapshot Specificiations
  • Software Policies
  • Patch Policies
  • Recurring Jobs
  • Device History and Properties

Further information about the tool and examples of how to use it can be found in the man page
for migrate.  The man page (migrate.1) will be placed on the SA core with the installation of the SA Rollup in the directory /opt/opsware/support/man/man1 .
