Changing tomcat ports on KM SOLR Search Engine

Jump to solution

When installing the SOLR Search engine and setting up the tomcat ports there is a msg that says "The default Tomcat ports are listed below. If a port is in use on the system, select a new one.  To change the port after the installation, refer to the HPE KM Search Engine 1.0 installation Guide."

I have looked over the links on this document and I cannot locate those instructions.  Does anyone know how to change the ports after installation on the KM search engine?

1. Navigate to where you've installed SOLR and go into its tomcat\conf directory  (example: e:\<SOLR>\tomcat\conf

2. Edit the e:\SOLR\tomcat\conf\server.xml

3. Go to around line 69 where you will see this element:

<Connector port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1"
connectionTimeout="20000"
redirectPort="8443"
URIEncoding="UTF-8" />

4. Change the Connector port to something other than 8080. Perhaps 8081 so it would look like this:

<Connector port="8081" protocol="HTTP/1.1"
connectionTimeout="20000"
redirectPort="8443"
URIEncoding="UTF-8" />

5.  In this server.xml file you can also change other active ports so as not to conflict with another Apache Tomcat installed on the same server.

6. Save the server.xml file

7. Stop and restart SOLR

8. The new ports will now be in effect
