Determining Logged in User language

We are using Service Manager in 5 different languages.  Is there a way I can determine language based on the operator logging on instead of looking at the OS?

Using IE with 'pass thru; authentication.  Therefore, the ability to select a language is not available.

I know I can 'hard code' the url with ?lang=<language code> at the end but I would rather not do that.
