How to initiate separate servlet for login with the Web client in Service Manager

1. Configure the Web Tier

  a. Locate the web.xml file in the Web Application Server installed applications directory.
       For Example:  <Tomcat Home>\webapps\webtier-7.11\WEB-INF\web.xml
  b. Open the file with a text editor
  c. Search for the parameter name honorUrlPort
  d. Ensure that the value for this parameter is set to true (The value should be directly below the parameter name)
  e. Save the changes and Exit
  f. Recycle the Web Application Server and Web Server for the changes to take effect (if necessary)

2. In command prompt navigate to Service Manager “RUN” directory (on any server that has servlets configured)

3. Execute the following command – “ sm -httpPort:12345 -debugnode:1 -log:debugnode.log “

Please change the port number to a port that you are certain to be free and usable in your network.

4. Launch the Web Client and connect to the correct port by changing the URL to http://localhost:8080/webtier-7.11/index.do?serverPort=12345

Note : Closing command prompt will close the newly opened servlet and thus will not take extra resources.

Please follow the convention of including "TIP"on these items so that it's clear that it is not a question being asked.

That URL only works in a vertical configuration.  If you are on a horizontal configuration, then you should utilize the serverHost parameter as well, such as:

http://localhost:8080/webtier-7.11/index.do?serverHost=server1&serverPort=12345
