Issues with HTML emails.

Is anyone else having an issue with the HTML emails coming from SM?  The emails should have a text version and html but the emails from SM have the html mark up language in both the text and html sections.  Is there a way around this?  It is causing complaint that the previews on iPhones and some mail clients show part of the html and not useful information.  We are running 9.34P5.  Thanks for any input

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

The only time I've encountered this is when the content of an HTML email template exceeds 8192 bytes in size, the content will be truncated and displayed as HTML code. Make sure your HTML email templates do not exceed this size limit.

This was an old defect which should have been fixed in 9.31. However, that's not to say the problem being experienced is the same of similar. Did it just begin and - if so - what changed between the time it did work and didn't?

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

Hi swalker,  I'm having the same problem. SM 9.34 sometimes the mail received in Outlook shows all html tags.

The Outlook/Exchange administrator says to review the JavaMail encoding. I've open a support Case to solve it and it's pending.

Regards.

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

Brett,

we used to have the issue with the emails as you stated and solved with setting msg_buffer_size:20000 in the sm.ini.  That corrected the email "body" issue.  Our issue is the preview of the emails.  This is shown in the preview of the mail client and mobile devices.2016-10-26_10-28-48.jpg

This is due to the email generated puts the marked up language in both the text/plain and text/html sections of the email rather than just text in the first section.

example for the above screen shot

Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
<html><table style="width: 98%;">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td align="left" valign="top">
<table style="width: 600px;">
<tbody>.
....................................................
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
<html><table style="width: 98%;">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td align="left" valign="top">
<table style="width: 600px;">
<tbody>

 This has been like this from the start of using the new HTML emails

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

Norita,

as Brett mentioned if the HTML emails are too large they get truncated and the closing tags are lost so the html can not be generated in the email and is shown as just text.  Try adding msg_buffer_size:20000 to your sm.ini if you do not have that there.  That should solve your issue if size is the issue that is causing your problem

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

You mentioned previews on some email clients and iPhones. What is unique about the affected email clients vs ones that do not experience the problem?

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

I mention the iphone since those, of our devices, allow you to show a preview of the first couple lines in your inbox.  Those users are the ones complaining.  Also within our mail client you can show a preview.  So what is unique is the ability to show the preview, which grabs the text/plain from the code.

Re: Issues with HTML emails.

Does the problem happen with full email clients such as Outlook, or only on mobile devices?
