Knowledge Management display option question

Jump to solution

In KM, there are a number of options at the top of an article, eg: Cancel, Edit, Add Feedback, Retire, Create Working Copy.

I want to remove the Create Working Copy one, but I cannot find where it is configured. If I look at the detail data for the screen, it tells me it's option 61.

  <option img="tcreate" value="61">
   <origcaption>Create Working Copy</origcaption>
   <caption>Create Working Copy</caption>
   <description>Create Working Copy</description>
  </option>

However, there is no option 61 in display options for kmdocFlow.view (or indeed any option 61 in display options at all).  There is ony 'Create Working Copy' display option, but it's under the Screen ID of 'kmdocument.view' and it isn't the one being referenced when viewing a KM document.

Does anyone know where this is configured?

The reason a user can see these is because they belong to a Knowledge Group that has a KCS Profile which allows those buttons to display. If specific users are not required to have those buttons displayed at the top of an article then they should be in  KMGroup which has a lower KCS Profile assigned to it for that KMCategory..

Yes and no.

Knowledge Management security is category based following KCS Rules. Users are added to specific KMGroups which are assigned to the KMCategories they are allowed to view. When the KMGroup is assigned to the KMCategory the system asks what KMProfile should be assigned. The KMGroup allows the users to view the Knowledge Documents, but the KMProfile determines what users can do with the documents: View Only, Edit in Workflow, Edit In Place, Create Working Copy, etc.

The idea is that admins do not need to tweak anything in code, but do it all via those three elements above: KMCategories, KMGroups, KMProfile.
