License Server

Jump to solution

Hello Expert,

Need suggestion on below:

4 SM Application Servers are setup in environment. Out of which 1 app server's IP address (lets say XYZ) binded to generate license.

Due to some maintenance task lets say for 24 hrs the Server XYZ need to keep down.

What needs to be done during this 24 hrs to keep SM functionality working. How to deal with licensing part in this scenario. (do we need to generate/migrate license on another app server IP address or any other alternative?)

Please suggest.

You don't need to to re-host your licenses. The other servers will run normally

Thanks @BrenoAbreu for your quick response.

But what if any one app server or its SM services restarted during this maintenance period.

Is this app server will not throw any license related error or it will start working properly after restart during this period.

Once again thanks in advance.

No it won't throw any license related error. When you have more than one server you have the parameter grouplicenseip in the sm.ini that is matched against the license that is also on all servers.
So even if your master is off due some maintenance or incident there is no problem it will work.
Make sure your are using an external loadbalancer or at least that the node down is not the one running the internal loadbalancer.
Good luck!
