I've upgraded to SM9.40 classic but when I log the ticket from interaction and escalated to incident the interaction status still appear as open-idle instead of open-linked. Anyone have the same issue?

Agreed with Vadim, check if the linker background process is running. If it is running, kill it and start it again. Then verify if the interaction change to Open-Linked.
