Password Encryption

In Service Manager 7, there is a program to let one to encrypt a password and then one can copy the encrypt password to the ini file.  I don't recall the program name.  Can someone point me to that program?

Thank.

Re: Password Encryption

Well, sm.exe is used for everything, to start the listener and others, the key here is to use the right parameters to accomplish waht you want.

So, to encrypt these values you need to do the following via command line from the RUN directory:

sm -encrypt:<parameter name>:<parameter value>

For example:

sm -encrypt:"sqllogin:RDBMS user/my password"

Then copy thenew encrypted value in the ini file.

Go to the SM client online help and searrch for "Encrypt the Service Manager configuration file" and you will see more detasil about this.

Re: Password Encryption

Please try the below syntax for sm encryption.

sm -encrypt:"sqllogin:<db_username/password>"

No spaces should be there after "-encrypt:"
