Restful question

Jump to solution

I have a "simple" initiative to publish data from a CM ticket in Service Manager 9.41 and consume it using another application. Can anyone tell me the high level steps needed in order to accomplish this. We are new to Web Services and Restful...

Thanks!

If you were attempting to access the Restful URL via a web browser, please ensure that you have enabled the restaccessviabrowser parameter in the sm.ini or sm.cfg.

Startup parameter: restaccessviabrowser

Startup parameters change the behavior of the HP Service Manager server. You can always set a startup parameter from the server's operating system command prompt.

Parameter

restaccessviabrowser

Description

This parameter determines if RESTful access to the Service Manager server through a web browser is allowed. You can specify 0 or 1 for this parameter:
•0: Access to Service Manager through REST from a web browser is not allowed
•1: Access to Service Manager through REST from a web browser is allowed

Valid if set from

Server's operating system command prompt

Initialization file (sm.ini)

Requires restart of the Service Manager server?

Yes

Default value

0

Possible values

0, 1

Example usage

Command line: sm -httpPort:13080 -restaccessviabrowser:1

Initialization file: restaccessviabrowser:1

We want to set-up an SRC method for users to request access to an application named Pinnacle. So after they submit the SRC request, an Interaction and related CM will open. When the CM opens, we want to publish the SRC data so that Pinnacle can consume it and set-up access for the user within Pinnacle.

Did you already looked into to HPSM Web Service Guide?

It is available in the helpcenter.

You can configure the webservice in the table "extaccess"

Or in the Systemnavigator "Tailoring"->"Web Services"->""Web Service Configuration".

Have a look i.e. on the Web Service with the Service Name "IncidentManagement" in this Web Service the tables "probsummary", "imTask" and again "probsummary" are available.

Field mapping (table fields to Fieldname in Web Service) is done in the tab "Fields". Fpr Date fields you have to configure the "Type" field to "DateTimeType".

From outside the Web Service SOAP URL is "http://localhost:13080/SM/7/IncidentManagement.wsdl" replace "localhost" and the port with your FQDN and the port number you have configured in your sm.ini, most likely it will be "13080".

Thank you for the reply Matthias,

I looked into to HPSM Web Service Guide for the HTTP address and was not able to access the restful wsdl.

Conversly, I was able to access the SOAP address: http://<server>:<port>/SM/7/Incident.wsdl

Attempting to use RESTful services, I unsuccessfully tried URLs: like this:

http://localhost:13080/SM/9/rest/changes

Thanks for your help, I will open up an HP ticket and see if HP can help.

 Thank you all who responded.
