What's the purpose of the sc.oncall rad application?

If you've configured the oncall schedule templates (Tailoring>Daily Oncall Records in the Navigator), the sc.oncall RAD application is invoked by the On Call Notification Processor* schedule record each night to build the following day's oncall schedule (it reads the oncall template and corresponding scheduled exceptions to generate the list of who is oncall for that group for the day).

 

Menu option: Tailoring>Daily On Call Records

--You update this record to create the rules for oncall notification. The first tab is the standard notification rules, the second allows you to define exceptions for a given date range.

 

Menu Option: Tailoring> On Call Schedules

--This is created by the sc.oncall application. It cannot be directly edited.

--It shows the actual on call schedule for the current day, based on the combination of the rules set on the template on the Daily Schedule combined with any exceptions.

 

*This schedule record actually has nothing to do with processing the notifications sent if on call is configured (so the name is confusing), it just generates the oncall schedule that the notification engine accesses when sending notificaitons of type On Call.
