SM 9.34 Calendar Disabled

On our new SM 9.34 install, the Calendar gives the following error

Calendar is not available. Contact your system administrator to enable the Calendar.

Where do i enable it?

Thanks,

Peter

Re: SM 9.34 Calendar Disabled

Have you selected the option to "Enable Calendar and Time Period Management" in the System Information Record? It is not selected by default.

This information is in the SM Help Server.

Note that the help is a little bit confusing when you start working on calendar configuration. The menu names are not very clear and the help doesn't list out the tasks related to the calendar very clearly (I found it to be confusing, at least). You administer the calendar from System Administration > Ongoing Maintenance > Calendar Administration.

Calendar Configuration Hints

1. Display the embedded calendar in a new module (e.g. IM, PM), and define the filter for the embedded calendar.

--Access Configure Calendar Filter Mappings.

--The lower section enables the display of the embedded calendar within a module. This assumes the calendar subform has been added to the module forms.

--The filter query allows you to limit which related records are displayed in the embedded calendar. E.g. only items with the same CI or Service, or the same location. The embedded calendar should not show all changes, but should show those changes most likely to be related to or potentially impact the currently displayed record.

2. Define filters to select when displaying the full Calendar.

--Access Configure Calendar Filter Mappings.

--The upper section allows you to define the filters available in the calendar view e.g.   changes for this service). -

3. Add records from a new module to the calendar (e.g. IM/probsummary). For example, maybe display priority 1 incidents on the calendar.

--Access Configure Calendar Filter Mappings.

--Add records from another application module to the calendar (note that the SM help includes a walk through of how to add incidents to the calendar), anything for this location, etc.

--Note: I did run into an issue after trying to configure this for incidents. I had configured the incident time period fields to be outage.start/outage.end, but if only the outage.start was populated (so an active outage), the incident could not display on the calendar. This may limit this functionality to post-event analysis. If the start and end fields are not populated, there isn't a way (that I can find) for the item to display in the calendar.

4. Define the fields in the popup hover forms for change details, change task details, etc.

--Access  Calendar Mappings

--There are separate sections to configure the title (title configuration) and the description (tooltip configuration) fields.

5. Restrict some records from displaying in the change calendar

--Access  Calendar Mappings

--The Restricting Query Configuration section allows some records to be blocked from the calendar (e.g. Unplanned changes)

6. Configure which fields in the source record that are used to identify a time period conflict.

--Access  Calendar Mappings

--The Time Period Mapping fields and mapping query determine which time periods are applicable to this record type and the datetime fields in the record that are used for comparison.

--You can also exclude records from Time Period Conflict detection by defining a filter. The out of box filter for changes, for example, is "category in $L.file ~={"CI Group","Default","KM Document","Unplanned Change","Subscription"} and open in $L.file=true"

Re: SM 9.34 Calendar Disabled

There is only one System Infomation Record. This information is available in the SM online help.

System Administration > Base System Configuration > Miscellaneous > System Information Record.

No changes to the web.xml are needed.
