(SM) Support Tip: How to remove complete phrases from Hot Topics Analytics

Editing the qssp.db file removes terms and phrases from being displayed within Hot Topic Analytics. However, if the goal is remove a phrase - such as "outlook message" from Hot Topics then simply adding the terms "outlook" or "message" as individual entries into qssp.db will not work because IDOL thinks each of these are different: i.e. “outlook message” vs “outlook” vs “message”

Here are the steps needed to resolve. For this example the phrase: “outlook message”  will be used.

1. Edit %SmartAnalytics installation folder%/content1/content1.cfg
2. Add the following at the bottom of content1.cfg

//----------Filter Phrase---------//

3. Save content1.cfg
4. Edit %SmartAnalytics installation folder%/content1/main/qssp.db
5. Add the following phrase to be removed from Hot Topics

Note that this is the entire phrase using %20 to indicate a space between the terms

6. Save qssp.db
7. Stop and restart IDOL Services
8. Login to Service Manager Webtier
9. Go to Hot Topics
10. The ‘box’ which displayed “outlook message” no longer appears
