(SM) Support Tip: Retrieve the list of incidents from Service manager via Restfull using Soapui

How to retrieve the list of incidents from Service manager via a restfull webservice request using Soapui ?

Prerequisites:

Steps:

  1. Start Soapui
  2. On Soapui Menu, Click File – New Soapui Project
  3. Project Name = “TEST”
  4. Check the box: ”Opens dialog to add rest service”
  5. Click OK and you will get another popup for a new rest service
  6. Service name = “list”
  7. Service endpoint: http://[SM host]:[SM port], i.e. http://smserver:13080
  8. Make sure the box: “open dialog to create a REST Resource” is checked
  9. Click OK and you will get another popup to create a New rest Resource
  10. Resource Name= list (We want to get the list of incident)
  11. Resource path = /SM/7/rest/1.1/incident_list (for SM to get the list of incident)
  12. Click OK and you will get another popup for New rest Method
  13. Method name = List
  14. HTTP Method = GET (select GET from the list)
  15. Make sure the box “Creates and opens request“ is checked
  16. Click OK and the request will popup
  17. At the bottom of the request click “Aut” and enter the service manager user name and password.
  18. Click at the submit button on the top left

Result: The list of incidents will display in the request response.

Note: If you are using a newer version of soapui and you cannot find the check ”Opens dialog to add rest service” from step 4 then

  1. Click “File” – “new rest project”- URI: http://SMserver:port/SM/7/rest/1.1/incident_list
  2. Click OK
  3. On left side, inside Request Properties
  4. Username = (your user name in SM)
  5. Password: Your password

Click on the green button to submit and the list of incidents will display in the request response
