SM7 implementation Q's

Jump to solution
We're planning a potential SM7 implementation and i have a few questions:

- when integrating with an existing BAC uCMDB, does SM7 have visibility of all CIs, or just the ones relevant to itself? eg. does SM7 see the CIs relating to EUM probes and can SM7 utilise the EUM data in the service management module?

- Is the uCMDB integration 2-way i.e. can you update CI-CI relationships in SM7 and see these in the uCMDB IT universe?

- Are there any limitations or gotchas for using the web access method for SM7. We dont intend to use a fat client at all.

- When integrating with AD or other LDAP sources, are all user attributes sync'd (e.g. email address) or is it just for username/password authentication?

thanks.

Hi,

1 - After setting up the BAC/uCMDB & SM integration packages, there will be a set of View for SM for CIs to sync between BAC/uCMDB with SM. So No, not all CIs will be synced as some (if not most) will not be applicable, but this also depends on how you use the CI in SM.

2 - The standard or OotB integration with uCMDB 8.x and SM 7.1x seems to be one-way, uCMDB -> SM. With the old integration using Connect-It can be bi-directional.

3 - Not all functions exist in the Web client compared to the Fat client.

4 - As mentioned by a previous post, on for authentication.

hmmm, so there is duplicate admin effort for maintaining contact details. It'd be nice if email/phone was sync'd for purposes of ticket alerts.
