SearchConfig - Rename a search form title in the drop-down?

Jump to solution

Good day,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with the 'Search' form in Service Manager.

I am looking to change the title of a form in the "Look for" drop-down menu.
Ex. I would like to change 'incident' to 'service calls', I am not sure where to go to change this value. (See picture)

Any help is mucho appreciated!

I can make it rain kudos as well so lets see those responses.

Hello nwuest,

Go to "probsummary" datadict record.

Under Engine Specificarions tab, you will find Common Name.

Click on Edit Common Name and enter your desired one. Like in your case, it should be "Service Calls" instread of "Incident".

Hope, it helps to achieve your requirement.

Thanks,

Avi

Hey Avi,

Thanks for the reply but the 'Common Name' in the probsummary table was not the fix that I was looking for. The post that Brett has posted was the fix I needed. Hard to follow but was the fix nonetheless.

Anyways thanks for the reply!

Thanks to the reply from Brett has led me to a post with the solution on it. It was a bit hard to follow so I will document below the steps that I did to change the drop-down name.

1. Enter the Database Manager
2. Under tables enter 'scmessage' and hit enter.
3. There will be two records that pop up, now choose 'message.edit' record.
4. The 'HP Service Manager Message' search record that opens. Type in the following:
   In Class type ' tablename'
In Text type 'the name that you want to change' (See 1st picture, highlighted in red)
5. If your record is found it will show and you may edit the Text that shows for the drop down search (See 2nd picture, highlighted in yellow/red)
   * Look for the text in the 'Message' column, and find the one with the text that matches your dropdown. (See in red)
   * Change the text in the 'Text' field.
6. Hit Save and exit. The changes will show up automatically with no need to refresh. (See 3rd picture)
7. Enjoy

Hello nwuest,

Thanks for your comments. But if you follow my steps properly, you can see the same place where you have to update Text; i.e.; scmessage. So, I hope my steps will also resolve the issue.

Anyway, thanks again for your reply.

Regards,

Avi

Hey Avi!,

You are correct your method does work as well which does take you to the scmessage prompt.
When I had read your first answer, my brain interpreted 'datadict' to 'dbdict' so there was my disconnect which led me on the wrong path. Whoops.

Thanks again for the reply Avi and have updated the post with your solution! Keep that momentum going!!
