Universal Search option

Jump to solution

I just learned about the Universal Search option that is a box you can type in Inicdet/change/problem/etc. IDs in from the main service manager page.

I went into System Administration > Base System Configuration > Mis > System Information Definition > General tab and selected the checkbox "Enable Universal Search".

For good measure I restarted the Service Manager service.

But when we sign into the web client, we do not see any new search bar/box.

We are on SPSM 9.40.

Hello fcbcd,

The Universal Search will be displayed on the same place as the command line, you can toggle the command between Search / Command. See image attached. Once available you can look for any ID directly.

This feature will only be present for Admin users that have access to the Command line option, also verify that lister background process is up and running,

You should only need a restart of the application server, if the options still does not shows up you may want to try clearing the web application cache, I was able to enable/disable only with the SM restart using Chrome.

Thank you EnriqueL,

I did not realize that the feature was for admin users only.  Once I signed into the web client with my admin ID id did see the option.

Actually, I was just able to get it to work for non-Admins.  I was in a User Role record for something else and saw the option "Activate Command Line on Startup" under the Startup tab.  Selecting that for a user role, if the users are not admins, they still get the box, but it only does searching and nothing else.  And they don't have to select "Switch to Search"
