Validation in Close problem button

Hi Experts,

We need to implement the below functionality in the close problem button in problem management.

We have a field named Resolution in problem management. The requirement is when we are clicking on the close problem button it should check whether the Resolution field is filled or not. If it is not filled then it should give a message like " Please specify the Resolution" , otherwise the problem should get close directly.

I have tried by giving messages and conditions in process but it is showing errors.

Please help me to implement this functionality.

Thanks & Regards,

Sandhu Mol

Do you have Process Designer Implemented?

What are the errors you are receiving? where did you put the messages and conditions?

Re: Validation in Close problem button

Since you are on Classic version of HPSM, why don't use use a simple FC - Validation?
command prompt - fc - search for rootcause
- go to Validations
- add a line to the end
- Update & Del = 'true"
- Validation = not (null(resolution.field.name in $file))
- On failed = "resolution.field.name"
- Message = "Please enter a valid Resolution"

This should work.

Re: Validation in Close problem button

Thankyou for your suggestion.

Actually what I need to do in this requirement is, when we are clicking on the close problem button it should ask us to provide the resolution in a pop-up format. Then after clicking on the ok button of pop-up we should be able to enter the resolution and close the problem. Please give your valuable suggestions.
