Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Hello Experts,

   Webclient hangs once the data is filled in combofill button and clicked on save button. Same thing works perfectly in thick client.

   Has anyone faced this issue?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks,

Parmeshwar Singh

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Hello,

why do you think that it happens with filling this field? Is it exact field or any combofill on form? What happens if you dont fill them and click on save?

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

What SM version?

What browser (and version)? Does the problem happen in other browsers?

What records are you filling to/from?

What is the comfill configured to retrieve? (Is it an out of box field/link?)

How is the related link line configured?

What are the exact, step by step instructions to reproduce the issue?

It works fine with other fields such as text field. But when i try to save data in combo fill button, webclient says Network error.

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

SM version is 9.21. Internet explorer version is 8. I am trying to fill data from another table through fill button. Link record is configured for character to clob data type.

Are you connected to AD at all to retrieve this data? I had problems before where querying AD was taking up to a minute, it was all down to an inefficient query in the link record.

Hi,

How can you retrieve data form clob field ? Not sure.
If you are want to fill varchar field from array type (clob at backend) the you have to properly pass the values like

source || target field
varchar_field || clob_filed,1

This fill first element from array to varchar field.

No we are not retriving data from AD. It is from table.

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Hi Piku,

I am sorry, i could not explain it properly. I am filling clob data type field with varchar. In link i have mentioned:

source || target field
clob_type || varchar

I am more thing i observed today that, if i fill all the mandatory fields on form and click on save button it is working fine. But when i am filling on combofill button and clicking on save button. It is throwing Network Error tcp_error.

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Hi,

So it means link is working fine, issue should be there in validations.

Check your all the validation places at master FC and form level FC, should have correct valid expressions.
Also check the validity table for all the validated field for this table.

Is issue occurring same in window client too? You might requires RAD trace for same.

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Hello Piku,

Thanks a lot for your quick response. But it is not related to FC or validation. Reason: It is happening on each form of each module. Also it is working fine on windows client.

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Hi,

What is your web client version?

But why it is working fine on fill of mandatory and error is only when you left blank some mandatory field ?
Check your sm.log file for same.

It is happening on each form then it means issue should be not of link.

Are you having same kind of link line on each form.
Try form where there is no fill of clob field.

Also you have to put only like,
source || target field
clob_type,1 || varchar

Re: Web Client hangs while selecting combofill button.

Helli Piku,

  Thanks a lot for giving your time for this issue. Best part is i am not getting any error in either sm.log or tomcat logs. I do not know why it is working fine when i am filling all fields and clicking on save button. I however tried with OOB fields also and it is behaving in such manner only.

Does CLOB data type has any particular behaviour?

I also tried with your solution for link  but in that case it is not showing the data in fill button.
