Problem:

When generating a canned BIRT report (i.e. a report supplied as part of the TestManager installation) I get the following error message:

Table (id = 3694):
+ An exception occurred during processing. Please see the following message for details:
Cannot open the connection for the driver: org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc.
There is an error in get connection, Network error IOException: Connection timed out: connect.

Cannot open the connection for the driver: org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc.

Resolution:

The problem arises because your chartserver is on a different machine to your frontendserver and database servers and does not have direct access to the database server. You will need to open your firewall to allow the chartserver to access the database directly.
