QUESTION

In the "SilkTest Test Properties" dialog box, what is the relationship between the "Test data" input and the "Data driven" check box?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

These options relate to two different types of Data Driven test case. The first to those data driven test cases created manually and the second to those created via the Data Driven Wizard.

The "Test data" field:

The "SilkTest Test Properties" dialog box allows you to enter "Test Data" that is required for a manually created data driven testcase that accepts parameters. The data entered must be in the format specified by the parameters. For example:

If the testcase has parameters:

testcase(STRING sStr, Window wWin)

The test data must be entered into the test data text box as

"string", win

A comma must separate each item of test data.

The "Data driven" checkbox:

The "Data driven" check box allows you to specify that the test case has been data driven using the Data Driven Wizard in SilkTest and that the testcase will be preceded by DD_.

Getting to the Dialog box

  1. Go to the testplan section on the work bar in a SilkCentral Test Manager project
  2. Right-click a test container and create a new test definition
  3. Select type as SilkTest and click next
  4. Browse and select a test script.
  5. click next
  6. SilkTest Test Dialog Box appears.
