Problem:

In the "Test Plan" module in SilkCentral Test Manager, how do I create a filter to return all tests that do not have associated "Assigned Requirements"?

Resolution:

This is not possible using the standard filter logic due to an issue in SilkCentral Test Manager. Alternatively, we can use the following SQL code to generate a custom report, which will return the information we require:

SELECT testDefs.TestID as TestDefID, testDefs.*
FROM TM_V_TestDefinitions testDefs WITH (NOLOCK)
left outer JOIN TM_ReqTestCoverages rtc
ON testDefs.TestID = rtc.TestPlanNodeID_pk_fk
where rtc.TestPlanNodeID_pk_fk is null

To apply it, do the following:

  1. Go to the "Reports" module and create a "New Report".
  2. In the "Create New Report" window, click "Advanced Query".
  3. Delete the SQL code which is pre-populated in the "Report data query field".
  4. Insert the custom SQL code into the "Report data query field".
  5. Click "Check SQL". A SilkCentral Message should be displayed saying "The SQL statement is valid.".
  6. Click "OK".
  7. Click "Finish".

Now, whenever you select this custom report and press the "Data" button, you should be able to review all testplans that do not have "Assigned Requirements".
