Problem:

Is Microsoft Desktop Edition (MSDE) included when you install SilkCentral Test Manager?

Resolution:

QUESTION
----------------------------------

Is Microsoft Desktop Edition (MSDE) installed with SilkCentral Test Manager?

ANSWER
----------------------------------

MSDE is not installed by default but you can add it. Whilst installing Silk Central Test Manager 8.0, the install assumes that you have a DBMS installed already be it locally or within your network to store the files and scripts created by SilkCentral Test Manager. If you are installing locally you will probably not have a DBMS on the machine, so during the SilkCentral Test Manager installation you will need to chose the "Custom Install" and select the option to install "MSDE 2000", it is the final component on the tree. This will then continue the installation and at the same time, install MSDE.
