Is is possible to specify the value of custom fields when adding a new issue using the Web Services?

Is is possible to specify the value of custom fields when adding a new issue using the Web Services?

Problem:

Is is possible to specify the value of custom fields when adding a new issue using the Web Services?

Resolution:

The "saveNewIssue" method is available to enter issues into SilkCentral Issue Manager via the Web Services, however this does not provide a way to add custom fields.

There is a second "saveNewIssue" method with different parameters with which it is possible to add custom fields when adding a new issue. This method is not documented but has been fully tested and will be documented in a future of SilkCentral Test/Issue Manager.

For details on this method please see, "saveNewIssueRequest2" at "...host/services/scim?wsdl".
This can be viewed in a broswer by using the URL, "http:///services/scim?wsdl" as shown below:

There are some conditions when adding custom fields as follows:

  • The custom values can be added as a stringarray[20].
  • DropDowns and TextFields must contain the shown string value.
  • The provided value for dropdowns must be available in the configured list for this custom field.
  • Checkboxes must have an upper case "X" for selected and "." for not selected.
  • There are no radio buttons, date and time fields.

For more information on the use of Web Services for SilkCentral Test/Issue Manager please see the Test Manager API Guide.
