Is it possible to automatically log off users that have been inactive for a period of time?

Problem:

Is it possible to automatically log off users that have been inactive for a period of time?

Resolution:

ANSWER
----------------------------------
Yes this is possible. For security reasons, SilkRadar terminates sessions once users have been inactive for 30 minutes. The remember login option on the login page (enabled by default) overrules this timeout. If the option is disabled and a user is inactive for more than 30 minutes, SilkRadar terminates the session, checks-in the license, and presents the login page upon next access.

Disabling "remember login" prevents third-party users from accessing the application from unattended computers, and thus enhances security. When users work with multiple browser windows, each browser session checks out a unique license. Enabling remember password allows individual users to work with multiple browser sessions on a single computer while using only one
license.

Each user may enable or disable the remember password option as required; the administrator can however set the default setting.

Procedure To enable/disable the remember login option:

  1. Open the SccFrontendBootConf.xml file with a text editor. This file is located in the /conf folder of the SilkPlan Pro and SilkRadar directory on the front-end server.

  2. Locate the BootConf\Options\Login\RememberLogin XML tag. By default, the tag is set to true

  3. Set the value to false to have the login page appear with a disabled remember login checkbox by default. Set the value to true to have the login page appear with an enabled remember login checkbox by default.

Each time a user accesses SilkRadar, a cookie containing encoded login information is created. These cookies are destroyed once users log out, or when sessions times out. If the remember password option is enabled however, cookies are not destroyed upon session timeout. Instead, they remain active for a set duration of time. This enables users to continue working with
SilkRadar without re-entering login information after each session timeout.

By default, cookies remains active for 30 days. The duration setting can be adjusted by the administrator.

Procedure To set the duration of login cookies:

  1. Open the SccFrontendBootConf.xml file with a text editor. This file is located in the /conf folder of the SilkPlan Pro and SilkRadar directory on the front-end server.

  2. Locate the BootConf\Options\Login\MaxCookieAge XML tag. By default, this tag is set to30

  3. Set the value to the amount of days you wish login cookies to remain active on user"s computers.
