Problem:

Starting SilkCentral Execution Server as a process using a command prompt.

Resolution:

In some environments where the execution server machines are running in kiosk mode the SilkCentral services manager cannot be used to start the execution server in process mode.

However using the following command from a command prompt it is possible to start the execution server as a process

cd "C:\Program Files\Silk\SC Test Manager 2010"
lib\jre\bin\java_ExecServer.exe -cp ".\lib\*" -Dsctm.datadir="C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SilkCentral" -Duser.language=en
-Xmx512m -Djava.library.path=bin;bin/Core -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=19144
-Dcom.jacob.autogc=true -Djava.rmi.server.useCodebaseOnly=true
-Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl
- DsccExecServerBootConf=Conf/ExecServer/SccExecServerBootConf.xml
"com.segue.scc.internal.execserver.ExecServer"

Also please verify if "sctm.datadir" path (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SilkCentral) is correct as in your environment.

For e.g. on Windows 7 its C:\ProgramData\SilkCentral
