SQL Server Service Manager cannot be found after installing MSDE with SilkCentral TestManager.

SQL Server Service Manager cannot be found after installing MSDE with SilkCentral TestManager.

Problem:

SQL Server Service Manager cannot be found after installing MSDE with SilkCentral TestManager.

Resolution:

When one selects to install MSDE with SilkCentral Test Manager - MSDE will be installed along with the installation of SilkCentral TestManager. Once this is done one should see that the SQL Server Service Manager should appear in the system Tray of the machine:

If this does not appear then one can verify that the SQL Server is indeed running via the following:

  • Go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
  • Find MSSQL$BORLAND

  • Right-click on this
  • Select restart
  • The service should be restarted

One can now go to SilkCentral TestManager and use the following DBMS hostname or IP address format:

machine-name\BORLAND

e.g.

server1.comp.net\BORLAND
