Special Characters in Data driven Sheet

Special Characters in Data driven Sheet

When using a Microsoft Excel sheet for data driven tests, you may come across problems with SCTM recognising special characters when uploading the template.

These can be characters such as:

- = [ ] \ ’ ; / . , ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + { } | ” : ? > <

This is related to the way in which Windows icons within Excel and Word are shown in other programs. It is because of the method in which they are created and stored by Microsoft.

This occurs in most products that wish to try and enable these icons.

There is a work around for the majority of these symbols that you can use.

Change the font of these symbols to Arial Unicode. This helps show most symbols when saved within other products.

Other Unicode fonts may work for certain symbols that do not appear.
